For the restoration above, the objective was to 'fix' the photograph and undo the damage created over the years. Using the clone stamp, i blended creases and filled in holes. In some cases, the area could not be cloned - the boy on the right is missing the lower half of his arm. To fix this, I copied his other arm and flipped it to create a mirror image, which was then pasted and blended over the missing area.
This Mickey Mantle baseball card has been worn down and drawn on over time. Using the clone stamp I copied the bright areas of the background and cloned them into the faded spots. THe clone stamp was also used to create the upper area of his bat. Parts of the nat from below were cloned above, extending the highlights to preserve the three-dimensional effect.
To approach this restoration, I began by adjusting the levels in the image to create more depth and contrast. I then fixed any cracks using the clone stamp once again. To add color, I selected the area I wanted to colorize, for example all the (green) coats, and then added filters and changed the hue of the selection.
With this photograph, I began by changing the photograph to black and white. Then, by adjusting the levels I added contrast and restored value to where the image has vaded over the years. Finally, I touched up small cracks with the blur tool and finished it off with a clean white border.
